In 2016, an Australian, who was on a solo hike in the Mulu National Park, went missing and was found six days later, injured and disoriented. Last year, a hiker was missing for seven days in Broga Hill, Semenyih and separately, a couple of international students went missing for a day in the same hill. This year, two Singaporeans went missing hiking Gunung Pulai for several days before being found. Safety when hiking is something that many people take for granted, while others over-prepare. And how many of us can be as resourceful as Bear Grylls when we are lost in the woods? We speak to Chan Yuen-Li from Nomad Adventure, who has been in the business of adventure sports for 25 years to find out what we can do to hike safely.
