The 9th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, has just announced his new Cabinet, with YB Khairy Jamaluddin as the Minister of Health. While there is no news about a Coordinating Minister for Vaccination (a post previously held by YB Khairy), the portfolio of Science, Technology and Innovation has gone to former Health Minister Dato’ Sri Dr Adham Baba. We look at these appointments, and explore what it could indicate for Malaysia’s management of the pandemic, which is at its worst point since it began, with Dr George Lee, consultant urologist, Dr Helmy Haja Mydin, CEO of Seri, and Azrul Mohd Khalib, CEO of Galen Centre for Health & Social Policy.
