It’s estimated that 1 in 10 women have endometriosis, but this is a condition that is all too often underdiagnosed, often because the most common symptom - severe period pains - are seen as “normal” for most women. But what’s the reality like for women living with endometriosis? On this episode of NCD Chronicles we hear from Natasha Gideon, who’s living with both endometriosis and adenomyosis, about her long journey to receive a diagnosis and how it may not be life threatening, but it’s definitely life-altering. We also hear from consultant obstetrician & gynaecologist, Dr Tang Boon Nee, about challenges in diagnosis and pain management.
NCD Chronicles is a series about people living with NCDs, going beyond the diagnosis to explore their personal experiences, their challenges, as well as the impact of their health condition on their loved ones. These stories reveal the importance of understanding the unique struggles and needs of the individuals behind the disease, in our response to the NCD epidemic.
