Twenty years ago, a mysterious disease caused young, healthy farm workers in Malaysia to fall seriously ill. A team of medical experts from Universiti Malaya worked around the clock to finally identify the deadly Nipah virus. Prof Dr Wong Kum Thong, a member of the UM investigation team, joins the show today to discuss the new cases of the Nipah virus reported in India. He also served as a World Health Organisation consultant for the Nipah outbreak in Bangladesh in 2004.
