Many of us are familiar with premenstrual syndrome or PMS, when women commonly experience symptoms such as mood swings, bloating and tiredness a week or so before menstruation. But for some women, who have a condition called premenstrual dysphoric disorder, these symptoms could be so severe that they can have a serious impact on their lives. Here to talk to us about PMDD and how we can distinguish it from premenstrual syndrome is consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Tang Boon Nee.
