If you reach behind you, you can feel your spine forming a hard tube within which the nerves of your spinal cord are protected. Imagine now if your spine does not develop properly, leaving a gap that exposes your spinal cord. That condition is called spina bifida, and is among the most common birth defects that cause permanent disability. We speak to two representatives from the Spina Bifida Association of Malaysia--one of whom was born with spina bifida--to learn more about spina bifida.
