The National Health & Morbidity Survey 2019 (NHMS 2019) is being conducted between April and September. This is a national survey that provides data on the state of the country’s health. We often quote the statistics from the NHMS when we discuss the prevalence of diseases, but do we really know what these statistics mean? And what should you expect if officers from the Ministry of Health come knocking on your door to collect information for this survey? We find out more from the principal investigator of the survey, Dr Shubash Shander Ganapathy, as well as Ahmad Ali Zainuddin, Nutrition Officer – both from the National Institutes of Health, Ministry of Health.
