The conflict in Syria started as a civil protest in 2011, and it has escalated into civil conflict and continues until the present time. Approximately 6.8 million people have been affected by the conflict in Syria and more than 1.9 million have fled their country to find asylum in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq and other neighboring countries.
