The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a United Nations process conducted once every four to five years, where each UN member state will have their human rights record assessed by the UN’s Human Rights Council. Malaysia will be going through this process for the third time in November. Explaining why this process matters, civil society’s role in this process, and the resistance to the Coalition of Malaysian NGOs (Comango) are Rizal Rozhan from EMPOWER, Dobby Chew from SUARAM and lawyer Fadiah Nadwa Fikri.
