On October the 9th Utusan Melayu officially ceased operations, leaving its employees in the dark about their future as all staff had been told to go on forced leave until October the 30th - Until October the 9th no letter of termination had been issued to staff. The building was sealed and staff were not allowed on the premises. Obviously, the way in which staff were treated and made redundant has left a sour taste in many people's mouths. How could this have been done better?
