Two decades ago, it takes many years of careful design and testing for safety before a new vehicle is deemed roadworthy. Auto engineers will need to crash over a hundred of cars before a new car model makes it off to the production line and into the showroom. These days, with advanced simulation technologies, automakers are able to conceive and test designs much more quickly and cost-efficiently. Auto engineers can create and manipulate the crash simulation at the push of a button, and complete it in hours instead of weeks, without having to crash actual cars over and over. Srirangam Srirangarajan, Managing Director for ASEAN Australia & New Zealand for Altair Engineering talks about building safer cars with simulation technologies on today’s episode.
