Top 5 At 5: Rebuking Constituency Allocations and Party Hoppers

5. Mini Popek Popek Parlimen, where we bring you the biggest highlights from the Dewan Rakyat. In the spotlight today is the Madani village adoption programme, and why the government is keeping fuel subsidy rationalisation dates under wraps.

4. The Paralympic Council Malaysia just unveiled their new design on Facebook, and it's a hit! So why did this design work, while the Olympics design didn’t? For that, we reached out to Azura Rahman, the former host of BFM’s Style File and Ticket to Ride for her thoughts on the new design.

3. The Youth and Sports Ministry will no longer approve allocations for events that are sponsored by tobacco, e-cigarettes or alcohol companies. Professor Dr Mohamad Haniki Nik Mohamad, the chief coordinator of the Certified Smoking Cessation Service Provider programme comments on the impact of such events.

2. The River of Life, which was launched in 2011, has eaten RM4.4 billion in funds but according to the Auditor-General's report, it has achieved none of its goals. However, the government has announced that they will be continuing the project, despite this. Taufiq Nazarudin, a city strategist and development consultant tells us how the River of Life has shaped the city's character; while Associate Professor Dr Keith Tan Kay Hin from the School of Architecture Building And Design of Taylor’s University talks about the ROI of the project.

1. Our top story: Recent headlines have been putting the government's commitment to institutional reforms under scrutiny. Namely, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul's decision that the positions of six MPs who defied the party’s directives remain as Members of Parliament, as well as Muar MP Syed Saddiq's protest against the government for not giving constituency allocations for opposition lawmakers. For this, we speak to Dr Wong Chin Huat, a political scientist from Sunway University.
