Top 5 at 5: Sabah's Protected Lands Face O&G Threat

RimbaWatch is sounding the alarm on oil and gas activities within the Tun Mustapha Marine Park, one of the world’s most important marine protected areas. We speak to Adam Rimba, RimbaWatch's Director, to dive into their concerns.

Other stories we covered today:

· Inquest Into Trainee's Mysterious Death: Advocacy group EDICT is pushing for a deeper investigation into the death of 20-year-old trainee Atif Abu Bakar at the Mersing Industrial Training Institute. His post-mortem revealed traumatic asphyxia and 53 injuries, yet police closed the case as a "non-seizable offence." We talk to EDICT’s President, M. Visvanathan, about why the case shouldn’t end here.

· Parliament's Sugar-Free Wednesdays: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul has announced that Wednesday will be a sugar-free day in Parliament for anyone in the hall, including media. This is part of the government's move to promote a healthier society. We get insights from Dr. Wong Jyh Eiin, head of the Nutrition Science Programme at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

· Penang's Clampdown On Illegal Dog Breeds: The Penang Island City Council has announced that it will impose a RM200 fine on anyone found to be keeping dogs that are on the banned dog list. Certified professional dog trainer, Dave Teoh weighs in on this.

· More Chinese Inbound Students In Malaysia: Chinese students now account for 90% of enrollments from East Asia, according to Education Malaysia. We discuss this growing trend with Jagdish Singh, Director of Student Recruitment & Marketing at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
