Last week, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had announced that the government will repeal security laws such as the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012, or SOSMA in short. Human rights NGO Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM) has welcomed the announcement, calling for the government to implement a moratorium on the use of SOSMA pending its repeal. Today we ask if crime prevention will be compromised if SOSMA is repealed.
