Olympics - Developing Nations' Affliction

As the 2016 Olympics draws to a close, Rio de Janeiro joins several cities of developing nations, which have hosted the mega-event in the past. The Olympics has long been touted to be an advocate for international peace, understanding and equality through Sport. Some argue that the Olympics enhances a country’s global image and encourages economic gains. However, with billions of dollars typically spent on rapid urbanization and preparations for the Games, have the Olympics been achieving those ideals?

We explore the Olympics' effects on developing countries, and the moral cost which fans do not see.

This is a report by Wang Junmey and Audrey Raj.
