The Islamic State recently launched its first Malay-language publication called Al-Fatihin or "The Conqueror". The newsletter aims to unite Malay-speaking Jihadists. This follows the recent nightclub bombing in Puchong, which the group claims as its first successful attack in the country.
But how exactly has the ideology spread so quickly to Malaysian shores? Today we explore the publication's background, and its aim of promoting brotherhood among the fighters in Southeast Asia, and with their counterparts in Syria and Iraq.
This is a report by Jason Lim and Wan Irdina.
