Meta Platforms recently apologised to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for removing his posts expressing condolences over the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh who was assassinated by Israel. The social media platform admitted it was a mistake on their part, eventually restoring the posts. Bradley Freeman, Professor of Digital Media with the School of Arts at Sunway University, analyses the repercussions of this development in relation to Putrajaya's plan to for a social media licensing framework starting next year.
