The Covid-19 pandemic has driven Indonesia into a recession for the first time in 22 years, impacting the livelihoods of millions in the country. The government recently passed the controversial Jobs Creation Law to mitigate the fallout, amid heavy opposition from labour unions. How do Indonesian businesses view the challenge facing the country? We speak to Gita Wirjawan, former Indonesian Trade Minister and Chairman of the Ancora Group, with interests across a range of sectors from natural resources to education, on his prescription for economic recovery. Gita was speaking at the Leadership Energy Asia Summit 2020. Visit asb.edu.my/lesa2020 for more information.
