“The Discovery of India” is the title of a work by India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru during his imprisonment between 1942-1946. In this episode we attempt our own discovery of India with the help of our guest. A native of the state of Assam, he guides us through the country’s North Eastern states. It is an area which he characterises as black hole in the Indian imaginary. We look at the notion of “Indic Civilisation”, narratives which marginalize and exclude, and the bloody fate of North-Easterners in contemporary India.
